The Wedding Is Coming...

Last weekend I had the privilege of making a cake for a Game of Thrones inspired wedding. It was truly amazing!

I met Steve & Julie this time last year, and we immediately clicked through our mutual love of the TV show. They began telling me all about their plans for their wedding and I started imagining all the amazing potential cakes in my head. They decided on a semi-naked cake decorated with fresh flowers and dragon eggs, and a sugar dragon on top!

The sugar dragon (Drogon, of course!) was a delicate balance of ferocious and wedding-appropriate prettiness - I thought he was adorable anyway! Once his wings were in place, he provided the perfect show-stopping topper to their cake.

Steve & Julie chose three flavours for their wedding cake - White Chocolate & Raspberry, Lemon & Lavender, and Chocolate Salted Caramel.

They included just the right amount of Game of Thrones details in their big day. Bisham Abbey provided the perfect backdrop, complete with a towering Christmas tree. Tables were themed by Game of Thrones houses, banners adorned the walls, and the happy couple even cut the cake with swords.

A stunning wedding! Congratulations to Steve and Julie!

Bright Blooms Wedding Cake

Last week I had the pleasure of delivering a wedding cake to the beautiful Kensington Roof Gardens.

The Roof Gardens looked stunning with brightly coloured ribbons and flowers in amongst all the picture-perfect features they're famous for, and of course the flamingos! Such a gorgeous theme for a Spring wedding.

The cake was right in keeping with the theme. With two tiers of White Chocolate & Raspberry and a tier of my ever popular Red Velvet, it was barely masked in delicious white chocolate buttercream and decorated with stunning bright blooms from The Colour Green florist. A stunner for a bright Spring day!

A wedding cake fit for royalty

On Saturday I attended the wedding of Anna and Stefan at The Orangery at Kensington Palace, and I was lucky enough to make their cake for them. A sumptuous elegant venue deserved an equally sumptuous and elegant cake.

We decided on a three tier white cake, adorned with roses, peonies, blossoms and more. The cake itself was lemon and lavender, and white chocolate and raspberry (a personal favourite!).

Wedding cake - sugar flowers

A couple of weeks before the big day, their florist shared the final list of flowers so that I could match them to the cake. Roll on two weeks, and my kitchen was bursting full of sugar peonies, roses, delphiniums, sweet peas, blossoms and rose leaves. Over 350 flowers made it onto the cake!

The set up of the wedding was a military operation, with the already stunning Orangery being transformed into a wedding fit for a princess within two hours. Luckily the rain held off so that we could all enjoy the beautiful gardens before indulging in a delicious dinner. Afterwards, the cake was cut and served, and guests enjoyed cake, cheese and even a pick a mix table, as well as bespoke cocktails from the bar.

Huge congratulations to the happy couple!
