On Saturday I attended the wedding of Anna and Stefan at The Orangery at Kensington Palace, and I was lucky enough to make their cake for them. A sumptuous elegant venue deserved an equally sumptuous and elegant cake.
We decided on a three tier white cake, adorned with roses, peonies, blossoms and more. The cake itself was lemon and lavender, and white chocolate and raspberry (a personal favourite!).
A couple of weeks before the big day, their florist shared the final list of flowers so that I could match them to the cake. Roll on two weeks, and my kitchen was bursting full of sugar peonies, roses, delphiniums, sweet peas, blossoms and rose leaves. Over 350 flowers made it onto the cake!
The set up of the wedding was a military operation, with the already stunning Orangery being transformed into a wedding fit for a princess within two hours. Luckily the rain held off so that we could all enjoy the beautiful gardens before indulging in a delicious dinner. Afterwards, the cake was cut and served, and guests enjoyed cake, cheese and even a pick a mix table, as well as bespoke cocktails from the bar.
Huge congratulations to the happy couple!
