Time to get Naked...

Naked cakes have been around for a few years now, and the trend is going nowhere.

They're a popular choice for wedding cakes, as they're generally cheaper than fondant-covered cakes (depending what goes on them of course!) and they look stunning, whether adorned with mountains of fruit, flowers, macarons and drizzles, or left plain and simple.

Naked cakes are so easy to adapt to your colour and flower themes, and if you're using fruit as decoration, it's beautifully simple to represent the current season.

In short, there's a naked cake for everyone, and the combinations are endless.

Here's my latest (almost) naked cake - vanilla sponge masked in a thin layer of vanilla buttercream and decorated with bright pink roses, rose leaves and fresh seasonal fruit (figs, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, physalis).
